🎨 The Core Taxi App Family

1. 호출 — call / summon 📲

Refers to calling or summoning a service, like a taxi or elevator, often via an app. "택시를 호출하다" means "to call a taxi."

Note: Combine with 하다 to make the verb 호출하다 (to call/summon).

2. 목적지 — destination 📍

The place you're heading to. "목적지를 입력하다" means "to enter the destination."

Note: Compare with 도착지 (arrival point), which is more literal/technical.

3. 예상 시간 — estimated time ⏱️

The predicted time for arrival or duration. "예상 시간은 10분이에요" means "The estimated time is 10 minutes."

Note: Compare with 소요 시간 (time required/taken), which refers to actual duration.

4. 안전하게 — safely 🛡️

The adverb form of 안전하다 (to be safe), used to describe how an action is done. "안전하게 운전하다" means "to drive safely."

Note: Use 안전해요 as the predicate ("It's safe") and 안전하게 to modify a verb ("safely do something").

5. 이용 — use / usage 🚖

Refers to using a service or facility. "택시를 이용하다" means "to use a taxi."

Note: Compare with 사용 (use), which is more general and often used for objects/items.

🛠️ How They Work in a Sentence

1. 앱으로 택시를 호출했어요.

I called a taxi using the app.

→ 앱으로 (with the app) + 호출했어요 (called/summoned) describes the action of requesting a taxi.

2. 목적지를 입력하면 예상 시간이 나와요.

If you enter the destination, the estimated time shows up.

→ 목적지를 입력하면 (if you enter the destination) + 예상 시간이 나와요 (the estimated time appears).

3. 기사님이 안전하게 운전해 주셔서 편하게 이용했어요.

The driver drove safely, so I used the service comfortably.

→ 안전하게 운전해 주셔서 (because they drove safely) + 편하게 이용했어요 (I used it comfortably).

🧩 General Formation Rule

호출 (call/summon) → 호출하다 (to call/summon, dictionary form), 호출해요 (polite present), 호출했어요 (past)

목적지 (destination) → combines with particles: 목적지를 입력하다 (to enter the destination), 목적지에 도착하다 (to arrive at the destination — note 에, not 를)

예상 시간 (estimated time) → 예상 시간보다 (more than the estimated time), 예상 시간이 지나다 (the estimated time passes)

안전하다 (to be safe, adjective) → 안전해요 (polite present, predicate), 안전하게 (adverb form, modifies a verb), 안전한 (attributive)

이용 (use) → 이용하다 (to use, dictionary form), 이용해요 (polite present), 이용했어요 (past)

호출 vs 부르다 — 호출하다 is more formal/technical, often used for apps and services (taxis, elevators); 부르다 is the everyday word for "to call" (people, etc.).

목적지 vs 도착지 — 목적지 means "destination" in a general sense (where you're headed); 도착지 means "arrival point," a more literal/technical term.

예상 시간 vs 소요 시간 — 예상 시간 is the predicted/estimated time; 소요 시간 is the actual time required or taken.
