Korean personality vocabulary is less about labelling people and more about understanding tendencies. 성향 is your natural inclination — not a fixed box. 외향적 and 내향적 describe where your energy flows. 어울리다 describes how well you fit into different contexts. And 자연스럽게 captures whether it happens effortlessly or requires effort.

Together these five words let you describe personality, social dynamics, and interpersonal compatibility in the nuanced way Korean requires.

🎨 The Core Social Style Family

1. 외향적 — extroverted 🦋

외향적인 사람 = an extroverted person. 외향적인 성격 = extroverted personality. 저는 외향적이에요 = I'm extroverted. 외(外) = outside; 향(向) = direction. Energy flows outward.

2. 내향적 — introverted 🌙

내향적인 사람 = an introverted person. 내향적이라서 = because I'm introverted. 내(內) = inside; 향(向) = direction. Energy flows inward. ⚠️ Not negative in Korean — introversion is widely respected.

3. 어울리다 — to fit in, get along, socialise well, match 🤝

사람들과 어울리다 = to get along with people. 분위기에 어울리다 = to fit the atmosphere. 잘 어울려요 = fits well / gets along well. Also used for clothes/colours matching: 옷이 잘 어울려요 = the clothes match well.

4. 자연스럽게 — naturally, without effort, in a relaxed way 🌊

자연스럽게 어울리다 = to socialise naturally. 자연스럽게 말하다 = to speak naturally. 자연스럽지 않다 = doesn't feel natural. The absence of awkwardness or forced effort.

5. 성향 — natural tendency, inclination, disposition 🧭

성향이 맞다 = tendencies match/are compatible. 내향적인 성향 = introverted tendency. 성향에 따라 = depending on one's inclination. More neutral and fluid than 성격 (personality).
