TL;DR
  • A weak-point review is not “study everything again”; it is a focused loop: find the error → name the reason → redo a similar item.
  • Use an 오답 노트 to track patterns, not just wrong answers.
  • In the final stage, spend more time on repeat mistakes than on brand-new material.
🎧
🎧 Helper Note
Read the Korean keywords aloud as you study: 오답, 약점, 실수, 다시 풀기, 마무리 복습. Saying them helps you connect the review strategy with real TOPIK study actions.

🔑 The Big Picture

For TOPIK I, reviewing weak points means learning from your mistakes in a structured way. Many learners take practice tests, check the answer key, and then move on too quickly. That feels productive, but it often leaves the same problem untouched.
A better review asks three questions:
  1. What did I get wrong?
  1. Why did I get it wrong?
  1. What similar question can I solve correctly next time?
This lesson focuses on 오답 노트 and 약점 보완: using wrong answers to find patterns, fix weak skills, and finish your preparation calmly.

🧩 Core Concepts / Patterns

1. 오답 means more than “wrong answer”

오답 means an incorrect answer, but an 오답 노트 should not only copy the wrong item. It should explain the reason.
Good 오답 노트 entries include:
  • Question type: vocabulary, grammar, reading detail, listening main idea, etc.
  • Your wrong answer
  • Correct answer
  • Reason for the mistake
  • One short rule or reminder
  • One similar example to try again

2. Weak points usually repeat

A weak point is not one random mistake. It is a repeated pattern.
Common TOPIK I weak-point patterns:
Weak point
What it often looks like
Better review action
Vocabulary confusion
Mixing similar words like 가다/오다, 사다/팔다
Make pairs and example sentences
Particle errors
Choosing 은/는 when 이/가 is needed
Review sentence role, not only meaning
Time expressions
Missing yesterday/tomorrow/next week
Circle time words before answering
Negatives
Missing 안, 못, 없습니다
Underline negative words
Reading too fast
Choosing an answer from one familiar word
Check the whole sentence
Listening panic
Forgetting the first sentence
Listen for place, people, and purpose first

3. The final stage is about conversion

At the end of TOPIK I prep, your goal is not to collect more notes. Your goal is to convert mistakes into correct answers.
Use this loop:
  1. Check: What did I miss?
  1. Classify: Why did I miss it?
  1. Correct: What is the rule or clue?
  1. Repeat: Can I answer a similar item?
  1. Return: Review it again 2–3 days later.

✅ Exam Strategy

Step 1: Sort mistakes by cause

Do not write “I didn’t know” for every mistake. Choose a clear cause.
Use these categories:
  • 단어 부족: I did not know the word.
  • 문법 혼동: I confused the grammar.
  • 조사 실수: I missed the particle.
  • 시간 표현 실수: I missed the time expression.
  • 부정 표현 실수: I missed a negative.
  • 문제 유형 실수: I misunderstood what the question asked.
  • 집중력 실수: I knew it, but answered too quickly.

Step 2: Prioritize repeated mistakes

If the same mistake appears three times, it becomes a priority. A repeated small mistake can cost more points than one difficult new word.
Use this priority order:
  1. Mistakes that appear often
  1. Mistakes in easy questions
  1. Mistakes caused by rushing
  1. Mistakes in common TOPIK I grammar
  1. Rare or very difficult items

Step 3: Make each note short and usable

A useful 오답 노트 entry is short enough to review again.
Example:
Wrong pattern: 저는 도서관에 책을 읽어요.
Correction: 저는 도서관에서 책을 읽어요.
Reason: Action location uses 에서, not .
Review sentence: 저는 집에서 한국어를 공부해요.

Step 4: End each review with one action

Every weak-point note should lead to one action:
  • Make 3 example sentences.
  • Redo the same question tomorrow.
  • Find 5 similar words.
  • Review one grammar pattern.
  • Listen again and write the keywords.

⚠️ Pitfalls

  • Copying explanations without using them: If you cannot solve a similar question, the review is not finished.
  • Studying only hard questions: TOPIK I scores improve quickly when easy repeated mistakes disappear.
  • Writing too much in the 오답 노트: Long notes are hard to review. Keep them short.
  • Ignoring careless errors: “I knew it” is still a problem if it happens often.
  • Reviewing without a schedule: Mistakes need spaced review: today, 2–3 days later, and before the test.

✅ Final Review Checklist

Before you finish a study session, ask:
  • Did I classify each mistake by cause?
  • Did I write a short correction, not a long explanation?
  • Did I redo at least one similar question?
  • Did I mark repeated mistakes as priorities?
  • Did I schedule a retry date?
If the answer is yes, your weak-point review is doing its job: turning mistakes into score gains.
