Trending Movie or TV Show
Learn to recommend a film or series, explain what it's about, and share what you think of it — all in Korean.
Iru Helper Note
When recommending a show in Korean, you don't need to summarize the whole plot. Just say what genre it is, one reason it's good, and ask if they've seen it. 요즘 뭐 재미있는 거 봐요? (Are you watching anything interesting these days?) opens almost any conversation.
요즘 넷플릭스에서 드라마 하나 엄청 재미있게 보고 있어요. 혹시 봤어요?
(I'm watching a really interesting drama on Netflix these days. Have you seen it by any chance?)
🎬 What You'll Learn Today
Today you'll learn how to recommend a movie or TV show in Korean, describe its genre and storyline briefly, and give your personal opinion of it. You'll use ~(이)라고 하다 (to say it's called ~), ~는 내용이에요 (it's a story about ~), and ~는 편이에요 (I tend to ~). These let you sound natural when talking about entertainment — one of the most common topics in Korean conversation.

🌏 Cultural Note — Korean Entertainment Culture
Korea has become a global entertainment powerhouse. 오징어 게임, 기생충, and countless K-dramas are now discussed worldwide. Koreans often 몰아보다 (binge-watch) entire series in one weekend and discuss them at work or school on Mondays. It's very normal for a Korean person to ask 요즘 뭐 봐요? as a casual conversation starter — having a ready answer in Korean will make you memorable. Note that 드라마 in Korean always means TV series, never a theatrical drama play.
